I shall be very busy and highly exhausted starting from middle of next week and any social activity is about to fizzle out.
Our friend S, an avid guitar player, has made plans with me earlier to go to the beach next week. He will bring his guitar and an ipad along for the lyrics and I will bring mats. We will buy food and drinks from nearby as it is more convenient than to fuss over a picnic basket (haha how quaint if that is so!) and we are gonna have an awesome time eating bbq chicken wings, sip on iced cold sugarcane juice, and singing to the guitar on a picnic mat by the beach! After the beach lazing, we are going for a movie! Why? To relax some more!
With the latest development on my schedule, lets hope that Jig manages to get leave from work on Monday so our beautiful plan can go on.
Tomorrow. Well tomorrow is easier to plan. The plan is to go to a clinic located in Tampines One, hopefully before 1pm for my checkup. At the same time, we have to rush to the shop at the Tampines Mall to get the Q-ticket for purchasing a new phone for Jig. Let's allow his current phone to retire.
I estimate a long long wait just like the previous time i bought my phone, so we might pop back to Tampines One's Uniqlo to shop for a nice shirt for Jig. We are looking for a simple short sleeve white shirt with either one pocket or no pocket. The material has to be thick enough so that it looks very white! Yet not too thick to risk a heatstroke in our weather.
Of cos, we are gonna get clothes for me too. Practical ones ahem!

I didn't get to eat!
I woke up today from a dream that I walked into a buffet restaurant with a big group of girlfriends and saw a lot of people I know already inside.
Then a guy and I started throwing food at each other and it escalated into a food fight with many people involved!
At one point I had an eggplant and a Japanese cucumber in each hand.
Then I woke up.
I consider this a bad dream, because I haven't even tried the food!

A vague update
I know right. I haven't been writing anything here for some time. Even the last post was just something that amused me on the internet but I've got nothing to say about it.
Observing myself, I can only say that I'm, again, feeling reclusive. I know it is only temporary.
There have been a lot of fun social things. Like trying out awesome new restaurants, going to wild wild wet, potluck with friends.
I have cook up some really nice and simple dishes that I would share usually, but maybe next time.
There were some bad dreams and weird dreams that I wanted to share as usual. But since I didn't do it immediately, I've forgotten about it.
I have had some pretty intense thoughts and opinions on Singapore and international news too. But just as they have quickly gathered in my mind, they have quickly dispersed.
Even during the times that I blogged, what i wrote did not fully express what I think. So it came out mostly jumbled and sometimes childish. Not as eloquent as i would like. Then I tell myself, why do i care? As long as I've somehow vent it out, only I need to understand what I am writing about as I am the witness of my life. Stuff I wrote years ago that doesn't make sense to anyone, reminds me acutely of what happened that day that propelled me write that tiny paragraph.
I have also changed my blog format a while ago. It looks really simple and comfortable to my eyes. No blogger nav bar, shhhh. Gonna tweak the coding some more but I'll come around to it. I SAID I WILL come around to it.
I leave you here with this snazzy looking dog.(source)

Movie, little kids and bubbles!
I brought my friend's (ex-colleague from China) ten-year-old daughter to Tampines Mall for a locally produced movie yesterday afternoon. She was so excited to meet me for a movie that she specially chose a pink tutu for the occasion. Her top was pink as well! Us ladies shed a few tears, surprisingly. I thought it would be a light-hearted comedy! After the movie, the girl wanted to play in the game arcade but we had already promised her dad to go back to their home nearby immediately for dinner.
I am such a softie towards little girls! We agreed on no more than 15 minutes and I gave her a few dollars for the prepaid game card. I didn't try to stop her trying her luck on the claw machine even thought I knew the robotic arms of such machines were manipulated. She failed on one and called the machines cheats. Haha! Then she hit a button on this machine that releases a bouncing ball that goes into holes with points. She got 100 which was second best! The best was the jackpot. Of cos she was thrilled jumping up and down and pulled me to the gift counter. With a hundred points, she decides on a box of bubbles and a small water pistol. Pretty cool choices eh? I like.
It was the second time I brought her for a movie. The first time we caught the 3D cartoon Coraline was when she was 8. And shorter. Since, she has been referring to that movie as that girl with buttons for eyes!
I finally met my friend's new baby boy who is already 5 months old. He was named a very good Chinese name that adhered to their family's tradition and method. Both his kids have 'Rong' in their names combined with their individual given name. Example: My brother and I have 'zi' in our given names. My father and siblings all have 'ying' in their given names. None of my cousins were named this way unfortunately.
My grandfather gave my brother and I really old fashion Chinese names. Yeah he named us since we are the first grand kids. The others were named by modern uncles and aunts.
I am a little concern about all these probably due to this niggling thought that since i married a non chinese, our future kid's name will be a little difficult to come up with. The surname will be a Spanish one that was only ADOPTED by my husband's ancestors.
Sigh! Anyway my friend was still trying to think of an English name for the baby and suddenly I thought of the name Rohan as it sounds very similar to the baby's given Chinese name. I didn't expect both him and his wife to take my suggestion seriously. Rohan means ascending or healing, nice right? The baby's Chinese name is just as peaceful and even more meaningful.
Now that my friend has one girl and one boy, his family is completed and contented. 好!

Finally working on the storeroom
Highlight of the day! Phew! I'm just taking a break from my store room improvement project. I have a really really small storeroom, and many many stuff!
The other day emptied the store leaving only the old but super sturdy wooden heavy-duty shelf rack. Got some metal hooks and a similar looking heavy duty (so called) shelving from IKEA. It has since been assembled by the delivery guys but it feels so lousy and weak.
This morning an uncle came with his power drill and helped installed the wall hooks high up on the wall. This is so that when I inch my way into the store, stuff hanging on the wall won't get into the way. Or worst, bang my head. I'm only 5 3 so the hooks' height are at pretty good position.
I have been sorting out stuff and found this O2 PDA that was a gift and I have never use it before! Damn... I shall try to get the second hand phone shop to buy it.
So far the heavier stuff have been stacked inside on the stronger rack. Going to placed the lighter stuff on the outer rack from IKEA. Light stuff like DIY wood sprays, super glue, power plugs, hand torches, first aid box, picnic mats etc.
The other news that caught my attention was that Whitney Houston has died at only 48! Cause of death recorded as natural. She was really really popular in the 90s. We often played her music at home then. Her voice was amazing and her death at only 48 came as a shock to me that the first thing I did this morning was to msg my bro about it. Used to be his idol okay, but he didn't even react to my msg about her death.
My brother and I only discuss our sales on Ebay these couple of days as we are getting rid of some stuff we found while tidying our homes hehe. It's all very fun and amazing that people would buy stuff that we almost wanted to throw out. =P
Ok getting back to task. My back aches a little carrying those heavy boxes onto top shelf. I'm doing this alone!

This time it is Taipei
I dreamt that I was have arrived in Taipei yet again. I came off the 'MRT' after travelling from another town (I've forgotten what they call it in Taipei) and went to a bus stop. I was trying to figure out which bus to take to the amusement park which I'd heard from my friends is going to be torn down soon. A Taiwanese guy at the bus stop wanted to take me there. At first he said we should take bus no. 6 but after looking at the bus guide for a while, he said no no we should take bus no. 9. Finally the bus came and we bumped into Cindy Chin on the bus. Turned out they knew each other and we asked her to join us but she said she just went there recently. The three of us chatted happily then I took out some mails from my bag and passed to them her. "Nah! Your mails lah, so many!"
My phone rang and I woke up. Hmmm.. I think that in the dream, I had already expected to see Cindy in Taipei or else why would I bring her her mails from Singapore to Taipei? It's just that I did not expect to bump into her so conveniently on the bus.
This is just another dream of bumping into an old friend in another country. Read about my France dream.

Just a zero stress day =)
O Hai!
Yesterday was a good day!
Went to the Kwan Im Temple located at Joo Chiat with my mother and Jig. Yeah i know right he is a catholic but he didn't mind so why should I? It was really sunny on the way there, and Wow the music in the temple was really soothing. Felt like taking a nap on one of those huge Chinese benches in the cooling interior of the temple while waiting for my mother.
After the prayers, I had a nice lunch of Wanton Mee and iced green tea at the nearby famous 'feifei wanton mee' to cool myself down.
Then it rained suddenly. Sudden rain is so normal that it should not be considered sudden anymore. Right.
After lunch I got some stuff from Ikea Tampines which I've been meaning to get but never got around to. Heavy duty storeroom shelves. Small cabinet for toy display. Small side table with caster wheels for my printer. My printer is currently in its box and I only take it out whenever I need it. I think that most bulky electronic stuff are ugly so i need to make them as invisible as possible, yet convenient to use. On a small table with rollers, I can just roll the whole thing under my desk. The delivery is for next Thursday.
I also bought some roach traps and ant poison from Daiso and Fairprice supermart. When the CNY is over next week, I shall declare war!

My Chinese New Year 2012, the whole week.
We don't really celebrate CNY in the way I celebrated as a child, as in the traditional extended family gathering, ever since that dark period.
Therefore, whatever is written here is NOT what an actual CNY celebration is supposed to be like according to memories of my childhood.
This is not ideal for the Chinese as we are not doing the 'silent night' after all. You gotta be all loud and festive to welcome in the lunar new year. You gotta be louder and more colourful than the 1st of January.
My small family have been doing our own quiet celebration without the visiting of estranged grandparent (1 left), uncles, aunties nor their off-springs. We do visit a small family of distant relatives (different surnames). They are the family of the younger brother of my grandmother. My grand-uncle's family.
For CNY, we do the standard like spring cleaning, decors, shopping for new outfits and CNY goods, reunion dinner, and preparation of ang-bao (red packets in Hokkien dialect).
For the past years I have ordered luxurious Chinese delicacies from the Chinese Medicine Halls and have them delivered to the home my mom used to own. No they don't only sell herbs. They also sell tonic, shark fins, bird's nest and dried scallops etc. I love it! My brother and I would give my mother, a fairly high budget for the preparations and some shopping money for clothes. She made us very very sumptuous and rich reunion meals at home.
Since 2011 was not a good financial year for me, I was thinking at first not to bother. We didn't do anything for 2011 CNY too so it didn't matter for 2012. It all cost money.
I'll just pretend that I'm not a Chinese! ='(
For days, I was moping and totally not inspired.
2 weeks before CNY, as I was lying on my couch being totally useless, staring blankly at my TV, which was not switched on, my eyes started to wander around my tiny living room and fell upon my curtains. I eyeballed my cream coloured curtains so hard I swear they shook a little in fright.
Man, I put those curtains up when I moved into this place 6 months ago and have not taken it down for a wash even once. Wow, I thought. I really am USELESS!! (Pls don't think I was that depressed. I can get very motivated when I start to despise myself.)
Then I stood up and wandered to my kitchen. Oh no, clutters here and there! I blame my mother on any mess in kitchen. I'm a neat freak about the kitchen and we tend to fight about the kitchen. In my younger days in an old home, every time we quarreled in the kitchen about the kitchen, I promised myself that when I finally have my own place, I shall have my own wonderful kitchen. Yes I have my own kitchen now and due to some reasons my mother is living with me. Most Chinese parents are very strong presence in the house. It doesn't matter who is owner. They are BOSS. I digress.
I felt bad that this is my first CNY ever in this place, and to let it come and go without doing anything is quite a shame.
Suddenly, I was so inspired to celebrate this flat's first ever CNY! I have to bring good luck to this place right? I have decided.
We are going to have a LOW BUDGET CNY! *Dramatic sound effect Zang Zang Zang!!!*
- Did not buy new curtains. Did not send to laundry shop. Took down the curtains for a wash in the washing machine, hung to dry and use it again on the windows. Yes wrinkled. I hate ironing. Don't judge! I figured it would straighten itself out after a few days and I was right.
- Clean windows.
- Clean my makeup area. Threw out a lot of makeup brushes and kept a few. Washed and dried.
- Sort documents.
- Clean all consoles and tables.
- Change all bed linens.
- Removed and laundered sofa covers. Put them back.
- Tidy kitchen, somewhat.
- Vacuumed carpet and floors.
I hoped I lose at least a kilo but I didn't.
3 of us managed to hype it up til there was a little buzz in the air and we got into the mood for decoration. If you tell me a couple years back that I would now be browsing the shops for reddish festive CNY decorations, I would probably sputter in indignation. What! So aunty-ish! Not me! Anyway, I was determined to keep the wall decors festive but not too gaudy. I acted as the quality control while we were out shopping in the neighbourhood for stuff. When they picked up something I would say no that's ugly or no that's overpriced or how are we going to store this later etc. This is the dragon year so everything is about the dragon. If you walk around the neighbourhood shops, everywhere you turn you see red. Literally! I wish everything is in pink though, but that will make CNY toosissy 'soft'. So many shops were selling the Chinese New Year decors, it was so competitive! Every shop was playing loud 'chiang chiang chiang' CNY music. It was great cos I could compare the prices and get the best deal. Yeah okay that was aunty-ish.
Here are few of the of the decorations.
No idea what they are called. I don't care as long as they are festive red and orange.
In the past I would get at least 2 to 3 new sets of outfit, plus any accessories I like but for this budget CNY, it was just a cool teeshirt to play mahjong in. I know some people are definitely coming over to my place for mahjong and I like to think ahead lol.
A prepaid pedicure with a pretty color, which I managed to ruin immediately upon reaching home. Luckily the damage was not too obvious. I just love digging my toes into the carpet.
We had to visit the supermarket 3 times. First time, stock up on meat and poultry, or anything that we could keep in the freezer. Second time, cakes and other desserts. Finally, fresh veggies and seafood.
This has gotta be the most tiring part of CNY preparation! I live in an old 4-storey block, with no lift. You guessed right, my flat is on the 4th floor. Whenever I am carrying heavy bags of grocery, I will pause on the 3rd floor to catch my breath. Well, they are still making the lift. It should be operationally ready in a couple more months.
This must be prepared before the CNY. They are usually placed in the living room on the coffee table or side table, where they can be easily reached by the family and visitors.
My mother prepared various dishes. I think it depends on your dialect group's tradition. We are Hokkien. The meal must include soup, fish, meat, seafood. This year, instead of a beautiful expensive fish in whole, my mother decided to make cod fish fillet, which was really sweet and tender. My brother came over and we all ate together.
CNY Day 1 年初一 (23rd Jan, Monday)
The electric hotpot (steamboat) and table grill. My brother came over with his girlfriend and we all ate together cooking our own food at the table. In the old days, we use charcoal fired hotpot. It was fun to watch the flames went up the 'chimney' in the middle of the pot. These days, it is very convenient to just switch them on and have fun cooking in soup, grilling and eating.
I find this way of dining very relaxing. Having to cook and eat seated at a table means that we are going slowly and each person eat the amount of a nice variety of food desired. No matter the size of your appetite, big or small, everyone can cook and eat together. Chinese loves eating like this with family and friends. It's great for bonding. Oh no I have forgotten to take a photo of this glorious food moment!
I did remember to take photos of my brother's Jap Spitz, Gigi, cos she was wearing a pink dress that doesn't suit her tomboy personality at all and she looked funny. Also, the skirt part was too short.
This was a quiet day for me at home, as everyone is out doing their own stuff. I spent my second day watching cable tv, snack, blogging, snack, surfing the internet looking at stuff that interest me. Also blogged whatever came off my head.
I had a good time by myself, although I do feel like playing mahjong but I need 3 other players. I didn't know that Lynn T. was also bored at home wishing to play too. CNY is a time where most people are too busy with their family and huge noisy gatherings at home, so naturally we assumed it's hard to get anyone and didn't make any calls to find out.
By night time, I went to the neighbourhood McDonald to meet Jig for a burger and ice-cream.
I bought an iphone 4 as mentioned in my previous post. Jig and I waited for 2 hours in the Tampines Mall's Starhub shop before finally my number 3072 got called. (Nah, go buy 4D lor.)
My brother and his girlfriend came to meet us at TM then went to Pasir Ris' Downtown East ihub as planned for pasta dinner and to watch our movie. Lynn T. came to join us for the movie. Titled Journey 2: The Mysterious Island with actor 'The Rock' Dwayne Johnson in it.
The movie managed to get hold of my attention from start to end. This is the type of adventure movie to catch on the big screen. My favourite part was when Dwayne's character and his stepson was swimming in the sea and from the deep bottom viewing up, we saw sharks swimming up towards them, I was so nervous for the 2 characters! But the sharks turned out to be so tiny like guppies, and the 2 guys swam on nonchalantly. It made me laughed out loud in the cinema. In that treasure island they were on, small became big and big became small.
After the movie, we all went back to my place for Mahjong! I won $5+ on 10/20ct per 'tai'. Yeah we played small as it's family friendly gambling!
Went to Parkway Parade to meet with a lady from ebay who bought my Louis Vuitton Damier Speedy 25 from me for S$550. Now I've got more shelf space! However my brother's gf thought that I sold it too cheaply for such fabulous flawless condition. It was used only twice or thrice, and you can't tell the diff even if you put it back in the LV boutique. Well, I am just glad to finally get rid of it. I mean, I love LV's quality, but it was not the right sort of bag for me. I need something I can hang on my shoulder and keep my hands free. I didn't have time to shop at PP as the grand uncle and aunt I mentioned were visiting my place in the evening. Some of them wanted to play Mahjong.
I gave Angbao (red packet) 红包 to the two kids, age 12 and age 5.
Just like how you should not judge a book by its cover, do not judge an Angbao of the amount of money inside by its size. LOL. Ok to be honest, the angbao I gave out this CNY is 10% of what I gave last year to my brother. And I also gave 10% of what I gave to his gf last year too. Speaking of which, it felt super weird for me to be giving angbao to my brother's girlfriend who is 5 years older than me and 8 years older than my brother. My younger single brother is junior in status to me (considered a kid), and since she is his girlfriend, so that makes her same 'level' as him, traditionally speaking.
I felt weird giving her angbao wishing her good luck in career etc like an older aunty. Shit. I don't even give angbao to my friends since I considered them to be my 'level' (I don't know how to say 辈分 in English), but I do give to their kids if I see them and if they politely greet me with the standard CNY greetings.
My mother went to Chinatown today to get the stuff for the all important ingredient for something called the Lou-Hei (Cantonese) or Lao-Yu-Sheng (Mandarin).
The 7th day is 'Human Day'. Hahaha... the translation from Chinese words are damn funny sometimes. Ok I shall be responsible and put the actual chinese words here: 人日(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renri). When I was a kid, my mother explained that it was the day the first human(s) was created. I read in wiki that Japan shifted the celebration from 7th day of lunar month to 7th day of January since they adopted the solar calendar. So any-old-how. 7th of Jan is meaningless as it is technically a different day of ren-ri.
Oh great I found an explaination on Wiki about Yu-Sheng (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yusheng).
Tonight we're gonna all stand around the table with our chopsticks to toss the stuff as high as possible woohoo! Everything will become better! Family, health, career and lottery!
Chinese New Year celebration lasts from Day 1 to Day 15. Singapore's official public holiday for CNY is only 2 days, but how long or short is your holiday break also depends on your boss.
Whether you are a Chinese or non-Chinese reading this, I wish you find contentment and happiness in 2012!
Therefore, whatever is written here is NOT what an actual CNY celebration is supposed to be like according to memories of my childhood.

Literally! I wish everything is in pink though, but that will make CNY too
Here are few of the of the decorations.
This one says Gong Xi Fa Cai!
This one says Da Ji Da Li.
This dragon face says Ji Xiang (left) and Ru Yi (right)
Plants too!
For indoor.
...and outdoor. right outside my flat.
No idea what they are called. I don't care as long as they are festive red and orange.
"DECORATE ME"
In the past I would get at least 2 to 3 new sets of outfit, plus any accessories I like but for this budget CNY, it was just a cool teeshirt to play mahjong in. I know some people are definitely coming over to my place for mahjong and I like to think ahead lol.
A prepaid pedicure with a pretty color, which I managed to ruin immediately upon reaching home. Luckily the damage was not too obvious. I just love digging my toes into the carpet.
GROCERY
We had to visit the supermarket 3 times. First time, stock up on meat and poultry, or anything that we could keep in the freezer. Second time, cakes and other desserts. Finally, fresh veggies and seafood.
This has gotta be the most tiring part of CNY preparation! I live in an old 4-storey block, with no lift. You guessed right, my flat is on the 4th floor. Whenever I am carrying heavy bags of grocery, I will pause on the 3rd floor to catch my breath. Well, they are still making the lift. It should be operationally ready in a couple more months.
CNY SNACKS
This must be prepared before the CNY. They are usually placed in the living room on the coffee table or side table, where they can be easily reached by the family and visitors.
Yeah we already got started on it while watching TV.
Personal fav! Spicy Hei-bee fillings (left) and Pineapple Tarts (right).
Eve's Reunion Dinner (除夕团圆饭)
Totally embarrassed. Refused eye contact.
LOL see? Even when I went right in front her?
CNY Day 2 年初二 (24th Jan, Tuesday)
CNY Day 3 年初三 (25th Jan, Wednesday)
CNY Day 4 (26th Jan, Thursday)
Quiet me time at home.
CNY Day 5 (27th Jan, Friday)
Nothing much. Met with ex-colleague for dinner.
CNY Day 6 (28th Jan, Saturday)
From me (left), from grandaunt (mid) and from my mother (right).
CNY Day 7 (29th Jan, Sunday)

Just being long-winded about my house and life.
GONG XI FA CAI! 恭喜发财!
Chinese new year is a 2-day public holiday here in Singapore. Today is the second day. I am alone in my little apartment. Everyone is out busy with their appointments and I have none. I could call up a few of my friends but i guess most people are busy especially during the day with their family and I am also very lazy to call. They'll be like: sure! where you wanna go? and I'll have no idea. I am so sure they are playing mahjong at home now! In fact I can hear the sounds of mahjong tiles coming from different homes in these two blocks.
I'm pretty happy to be in my quiet home on the computer right now. So peaceful. Nah i'm not blogging about my Chinese New Year today. That shall be a super long-winded entry, for later this week.
This shall be just another rambling post. About anything and nothing.
Are you still with me? (^^)
Late last night, I was thinking of my collection of toys mostly from Japan, still in the brown 2wire carton box. Those little cuties have been packed in that box since from the previous-previous home. They were still packed in that box at that condo I'd rented last year. I should get a display from Ikea and let them have a chance to shine!
This simple glass display (S$85) is the most suitable for my small apartment. I dislike furniture clutter so I still have not decided whether to put it in the bedroom or living room. Mmm, or that space between my bedroom and the storeroom? Ah I don't know.
I often wish that I can afford a 3 bedrooms instead of 2 bedrooms apartment. As everyone knows, the property prices in Singapore is going up all the time. I bought my current home from the resale market for S$301K with a mortgage, and I considered myself lucky to grab this place at this price at a location I like. A 3-bedroom around this district will be definitely >$400K or $500K. Last I checked, 2 different banks were willing to give me loans of >$400K but I want to keep my monthly repayment as low as possible. Cautious me.
As my mother is living with me, I do need more space! I need a personal den. Probably with a juvenile sign at the door "Keep Out!". Haha so childish. I am a person who requires a lot of room space.
I think this stemmed from the time when I was still a kid growing up in that 3-storey house and my parents assigned me to the 3rd floor. I had a whole third floor to myself. It was like living in my own little flat with small living area where I had a chest of drawers and seating, a bedroom, an office and a pink bathroom that had a pink bath tub. The 2 rooms had a common access to a huge sheltered balcony that overlook the backyard with all that fruit trees. My own space when I was just a child. I didn't even need all that space then, I need it now! Did I sound like I was a pampered child?
The opposite was truer. I remember all my weekends of cleaning the house (3-floors!), laundry and ironing baskets of clothes, while my brother played with the neighbour kids! I could starch and iron my father's office shirt at only age 6. I hand washed all the dishes after every meal. I vacuumed the carpet stairs every weekend. Once, the huge old fashion vacuum cleaner rolled down the stairs. Luckily I let go and didn't rolled down too. I changed all the bed sheets. I cleaned furniture.
We don't need no servants since Cinderella was in the house yo yo yo!! #rapfail
Not that my father could not afford a servant. The funny thing is, my mother and I could do a better job in housekeeping than those professional servants. I had hired a foreign maid for my previous apartment since I was really busy with work. Fuck, the clothes were still damp from the ironing spray and guess what she said. "Oh it's like that they will dry off soon enough." She assumed I don't know better since I looked like a very young lady busy with career and social life. The windows were still dusty. In fact, everything was still dusty! She didn't meet my expectation yet made so many excuses, so I fired her and decided to do it all myself.
When it comes to the household, I am the product of a typical tiger mother. When I was in kindergarten, she said no one would marry me if I didn't know how to cook and keep a house efficiently. I secretly thought that I don't care about men like that, but I was so scared to say that to my mother in case of a tight smack across the face for talking back.
Who wants to marry a man who wants to marry a maid to clean after him?
Therefore, at age 14 I declared to my girlfriends (whom had to wait for me to finish the house chores before we could hang out) that I will marry a guy who is willing to do my laundry and cook dinner whenever I am too busy. Am I too strong-headed for a mother who was so traditional? When I was 15, she set a curfew of 8.30pm. When I stepped into the house at 8.35pm, I received a heavy punishment in silence.
I stopped the "chinese 100% obedient thing" at age 17, which was a pretty late age to defy your parents LOL! But that was also the age when I started giving my mother a monthly pocket money from my first job. My father left us when I was 18 (still a student, dropped out to take care of things), so how can I survive if I'm not strong-headed? My mother stopped being so strict and traditional. Looking at my brother and I, she probably thought "If you can't beat them, join them!"
Wah, suddenly recalling a lot of my past. So colourful. I have always wanted to write a personal biography about my life, but it's too much trouble. Most famous people bios are always glorified. I am talking about this bare-all colourful ones from unknown people like me, who shall then become known for their interesting lives (and good marketing). *day-dreaming*
You know why people always published their bio when they are so old?
NOT because of accumulated experiences.
It's because they are too old or too dead to be embarrassed! *kua kua kua*
I do blog a little bit about personal stuff but I avoid details about my jobs, as jobs are nothing personal. Even when people ask what was a girl like me doing on an oil/gas vessel with more than 100 men in dirty oily coveralls sailing from Asia to Africa, I didn't know a better answer than "paperwork", which is the truth anyway.
You see how my entry switch from Japanese toys to furniture position to my Cinderella childhood to biographies. This is a rambling post, what! Are you still with me?
Oh yeah I plan to get an iphone 4 tomorrow. I can hear cheering from my Apple fanatic friends. Not the iphone 4S. I read in an online review the screen of iphone 4 is better than the 4S. My brother is using the 4S. He said not much difference. Plus way cheaper after renewing a 2-yr contract with my telco service provider. Plus, my service provider sent me a $100 voucher.
Yeah I made the meme above. Feel free to send it to friends who are switching to the iphone.
Enough of blogging, I am going to snack on the CNY goodies now and surf the internet.

A sudden spew of words
I have promised myself to blog as often as possible, even if my thoughts and mood at the moment are embarrassingly full of rambling senseless letters of the alphabet. I'll just write it out, be fearless of readers' judgement, no matter how senseless I sound.
This is so that when I'm 70, I can read back on my ancient entries, laugh and reminisce upon an almost forgotten past. I hope I can live healthily until old age. I hope I look graceful when I'm old with a full crown of white hair. I'm woman after all. Doesn't matter if my hair is all white. Must have a lot of hair!
I hope by then this blog is still accessible on the internet, that is if internet still exist. What if there is no more internet, and the human itself is a computer that can links trillions of data and networks? What if we're not even called humans or robots or humanoid? We shall all become a special breed called 'YTSUD-TYPE888' or upgraded breed (used to be creaky human converted to latest rev) called ' YTSUD-TYPE999-VINTAGE'!!
Anyway.
The reason I have not blog for the past 2 weeks was that I have so much jumbled thoughts but no words for them. I was speechless.
Just a moment ago I decided ah, why not post a photo of myself, totally void of my magical makeup? My totally naked face. You know, as a joke to punish myself for not blogging.
I actually took this photo the other day so that I can zoom in so closely until the screen only accommodate one feature at a time, and then examine my flaws in a microscopic way. I do this once in a while whenever it's time to appraise my skin, and such a photo is only for my private view. I was rather shock at this latest zoom-in of my face. Oh my I look so horrible man! All the extra weight blurred out my once upon a time cheekbones and oval face. My skin felt different. My under eyes, dark and wrinkled! But then again when I'm 70, I will probably see this photo and think differently- "wow I used to be so young and pretty"......
...... and try to show it off to everyone in the old folks' home.

Cheap back alley table grill, AGAIN!
Alright we don't exactly have to sit out in the back alley of the restaurant but as this is a table grill restaurant, we found the back alley to be more airy and cooling. A few evenings ago on Wednesday, we went for our favourite budget table grill in Kallang. Yeah again! Seriously I don't want to share the address the place is already crowded as it is. It is a few minutes walk from Kallang MRT, on the Geylang side, not the Boon Keng side. In case you cannot find it, bring me for a treat I'll be happy to show you! lol.
Alexi and I found this place by accident one evening some time ago. From the outside of the restaurant, we saw bright banners advertising a table grill buffet at S$16.80 per person. Plus they set up a hotpot for each table. You may select up to 2 different soup bases from Tom Yum, Chicken Stock, Spicy, Pork Bone etc.
We like to use the table charcoal grill for the meat slices. Our favourites are the pork belly and beef slices. We use the soup hotpot for all the other stuff like Enoki (golden mushrooms), greens, winter melon, potatoes, sausages, prawns, crabs and MORE. We were to shy to take a picture of the buffet spread as it is inside the restaurant.
There were so many different types of condiments and cooked appetizers. To name a few, many types of refreshing pickles, Chinese salad, dark soy sauce pig trotters, fried chicken wings, dumplings... omg! I just made myself a little hungry remembering the sights.
I love going for table grill with Alexi as she is really fast with the grilling, and the meats are cooked just nice. Me? I'm good at eating and drinking.
Hungry already?
Ok here are some pictures taken with Alexi's iphone.
Yeah you can see parts of our teeshirts. She is the skinny one in black and I'm the fatty bom bom one in green. ^^ I can't believe she wore such a thick top for grilling in our weather. I wonder how she's gonna survive the weather next week in the US?

This here is only 30% of meat. My hardworking friend cooked all the meat for us!
Thinly sliced pork belly on the grill
She ate some prawns and crab and while I ate the crunchy chicken innards.
I dunno, looks like we didn't eat a lot but we did.
